About the Programme

Applications are invited from UK Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates for a Race Equity Scholarship in the Social and Economic Research Institute (SERI) in the following areas (i) Sheffield Business School; (ii) Law & Criminology; (iii) Natural and Built Environment; (iv) Sheffield Institute of Education; (v) Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (vi) Psychology, Sociology and Politics commencing 2 October 2023.

Research in the Social and Economic Research Institute (SERI) is interdisciplinary and examines economies, social institutions, human behaviours and public policies. We are committed to cutting-edge, high quality and impactful research and innovation which addresses key social, economic, and environmental challenges. We encourage you to explore our research specialisms and staff research expertise in our research centres and departments, and we welcome applications in these areas.

PhD Study in the Social and Economic Research Institute (SERI) at SHU

Funding  

Scholarships are available for 3.5 years (full-time) or 6 years (part-time) and include: 

• Tuition fees  

• Maintenance bursary at the standard SHU PhD stipend rate aligned with the net real living wage. In the academic year 2022/23, it is £18,178 per annum for full-time study, and part-time is paid at 50%
