Applications are invited for up to four fully funded studentships in the School of Design and Creative Arts at Loughborough University. The School is looking for highly motivated and talented individuals who are keen to contribute the School's vibrant research culture.

The newly formed School of Design and Creative Arts offers a wide range of design and art programmes. We are 28th in the world for Art & Design (QS World Rankings 2019) and 2nd in the UK in the Times, Sunday Times, and Guardian University Guides 2020.

We are keen to hear from applicants interested in the following priority areas: drawing and digital storytelling; public art and heritage; art, performance and societal challenges; smart textiles and wearable technology; safe and smart mobility; connected and automated driving; human factors and environmental interactions; technology use and complex adaptive systems; digital product design and fabrication; design for Additive Manufacturing; design for shared ownership; designing meaningful experiences with emerging technologies; inclusive design of products and services; and responsible design.

As part of your application you need to indicate which priority area you are interested in and submit a 1-page synopsis about why this topic is important.

Entry requirements:
Applicants should have, or expect to achieve, a high 2:1 Honours degree (or equivalent) in the major subject of their research field. A relevant Master's degree is advantageous.

Funding Notes

The studentships are open to articulate, highly motivated and well-qualified UK/EU graduates with backgrounds in relevant disciplines. The studentship provides a tax-free stipend of £15,009 per year (2019 rates) plus tuition fees at the UK/EU rate. International students may apply but the value of the studentship will be used to cover the full cost of the International tuition fee. Studentships are for three years and all candidates will be expected to register on 1st October 2020.
