Our research aims to improve policy and practice in education locally, regionally and internationally. We invite applications for research study in any of our research strengths:
Sheffield Institute of Education
As a research student in education, you will be affiliated with the Sheffield Institute for Education. We are a centre of excellence in education research and knowledge exchange, with expertise in curriculum and pedagogy, policy and professional learning, and diversity and social justice.
Our work is embedded in practice and delivered by working in partnership. Everything we do is informed by broad, cutting-edge research across our areas of excellence. Our funders include UK and international government departments and policy organisations, Research Councils, schools and other educational institutions, major charities, learned societies and subject associations, business, and voluntary and community organisations.
In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), 69% of our research was rated at least internationally excellent. See our website for more information on current and past research https://www.shu.ac.uk/about-us/academic-departments/institute-of-education/research
