The Humanities Research Centre conducts research in English, History, and Film and Performance Studies. Alongside the research specialisms within these disciplines, we collaborate across the Centre on areas of shared interest including cultural history, gender, imperialism, scriptwriting and adaptation.

You will be part of our community of researchers in the Humanities, with the opportunity to attend and contribute to a range of discipline, faculty and University-wide seminars, workshops, training and conferences. We offer formal research training events and academic seminars as well as more informal workshops where you can practise delivering conference papers in a supportive environment. We will encourage you to attend conferences, deliver papers and publish your work.

We are also part of the North of England Consortium for Arts and Humanities and the Heritage Consortium.
