It leads to greater innovation in the diagnosis, management, treatment and prevention of health conditions. Join our community of dedicated staff and work alongside more than 50 PhD students as you pursue your research interests and ambitions.

In the Times Higher Education rankings of the most recent Research Excellence Framework (2014), we were equal seventh in Public Health, Health Services and Primary Care.

PhD Health Sciences

As a PhD student in our Department, you'll have the flexibility to tailor your studies to achieve your research goals and will benefit from our in-depth bespoke research training programme which supports the development of essential subject specific and transferable skills for your future career.

You'll be welcomed as a valuable member of our scientific community and will be embedded into one of our specialist research groups. You'll also have access to all of our departmental facilities.

We're committed to undertaking research on current and emerging challenges in health and healthcare provision. Our works spans a range of academic disciplines including epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics, health policy, sociology and applied psychology, and clinical trials.
