About the Programme

The Centre for Language and Communication Research (CLCR) at Cardiff University, School of English, Communication and Philosophy, and the Language Research Centre (LCR) at Swansea University, School of Culture and Communication, supported by the ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership for Wales (Wales DTP), invites applications for PhD study, with the possibility of being awarded a fully-funded ESRC DTP Studentship, available to start in October 2022. We expect to make doctoral studentship awards in the area of Linguistics. Information on the ESRC Wales DTP linguistics pathway can be found here:

https://walesdtp.ac.uk/pathway/linguistics/

Applications are invited from exceptional candidates with a first class or strong upper second class honours degree, or appropriate Master’s degree. The University values diversity and equality at all levels and encourages applications from all sections of the community, irrespective of age, disability, sex, gender identity, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief and sexual orientation. In line with our commitment to supporting and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, and to increase recruitment of currently underrepresented groups, applications from Black British, Asian British, minority ethnicity British and mixed race British candidates are particularly encouraged and welcomed.

Available as full and part-time: ‘1+3’ (MA followed by 3-year PhD, or the part-time equivalent), or ‘+3’ (3-year PhD or its part-time equivalent), depending on the applicant’s needs.

For initial enquiries contact  Dr Sara Pons-Sanz (Pons-SanzS@cardiff.ac.uk) (Cardiff) or Professor Nuria Lorenzo-Dus (n.lorenzo-dus@swansea.ac.uk) (Swansea). For further details see the UKRI web site.
