Are you passionate about Cancer research and infectious diseases and eager to advance your research career? London South Bank University is pleased to offer self-funded PhD opportunities in molecular mechanisms and targeted therapy in cancer, and infectious diseases (wet lab and computational methods) for motivated and talented qualified individuals.

About the Program:

  • Eligibility: Candidates must have a MRes or MSc in a related field of study, achieving at least a 2:1 classification. Consideration will also be given to applicants with a BSc in a relevant field, provided they have obtained a first-class classification with a strong research-based dissertation.
  • Tailored Research: Our self-funded PhD programs provide you with the opportunity to pursue research in molecular mechanisms and targeted therapy in cancer, and in infectious diseases under the guidance of experienced faculty members. Whether your interests lie in gene regulation and epigenetics, miRNA, nanotechnology in cancer drug delivery, cell cycle, IGF-1R signalling, immunecheckpoints, viral load and biomarkers, anticancer biopeptides using computational and lab-based assays, 3D organoids, gene-editing, proteomics, transcriptomics and genomics, our programs offer a flexible and supportive environment for your academic journey.
  • Cutting-Edge Facilities: Benefit from access to state-of-the-art laboratories, research equipment, and resources, empowering you to conduct innovative research and make meaningful contributions to your field. Our equipment includes real time qRT-PCR, mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry multiplate reader for high throughput drug screening, ImageXpress Pico, hypoxia chambers, electroporator, nanodrop, fluorescent microscope and instruments necessary for basic molecular and cell biology.
