The PhD project will focus on 5G Communication technologies and research new mechanisms and techniques that enable haptic communications to work in 5G. The work will consider smart environments and user behaviour, through modelling and evaluating user quality of experience. Privacy Concerns and relevant tactical decisions will also be investigated. Background work or knowledge in the area of communication networks and/or decision theory/modelling will be considered and advantage.
Note: To celebrate its continued growth, the School of Sciences at UCLan Cyprus is offering a scholarship for a full-time PhD programme (via MPhil). Supervision and training will be offered predominantly at the Cyprus campus but the project will also enjoy support from UCLan UK where the student will be officially registered. This award will be delivered in partnership with UCLan in the UK, with the award coming from UCLan UK. It is therefore a UK PhD award.
The scholarship is for full time study tenable up to three years (subject to satisfactory progress) and open only to permanent residents in the Republic of Cyprus, in the UK and to EU Nationals due to residency requirements. The scholarship will cover tuition fees and travelling costs of up to 2 relevant trips (e.g. conference attendance). The scholar may be asked to contribute towards the costs of a one week residential period of study and conference attendance, to be held at the University of Central Lancashire, in Preston, Lancashire. This contribution will be in the region of GB£500.
The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to assist in teaching at undergraduate level in the School of Sciences, UCLan Cyprus.
As a minimum requirement applicants must have a Masters Degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline and an acceptable English Language Qualification equivalent to UKVI IELTS 7.0 (no minimum sub score below 6.5).
