A Little Gallic Flair for a Small Irish City? Intoxicating Scenes for Creative Cities
We are seeking a candidate to carry out PhD research in the project: ‘A Little Gallic Flair for a Small Irish City? – Intoxicating Scenes for Creative Cities’. The project is investigating the role of creativity and culture in driving urban re-generation, and by extension improving quality of life and well-being. It is seeking to produce useful insights that will feed into the programme of regeneration of Waterford City. It will do this by examining a number of transnational historical and contemporary case studies to learn from the experience of other successful urban centres, and the creative scenes that have made them beacons for attracting migrants, tourists, students and investment. The research will combine a combination of ethnography, interviews, and analysis of art, literature, as well as cultural & political ideas. The study is comparative and will involve time on site in Waterford, and the French cities chosen as comparative case-studies.
