A Pd-catalysed cyclisation strategy to chiral nitrogen heterocycles

Project Description

We have recently devised a novel conjunctive reagent that is generated in the presence of a palladium catalyst, and demonstrated that this can be exploited in the synthesis of chiral heterocyclic products. In addition, the employment of chiral ligands in this reaction allows these products to be accessed with high enantiocontrol. This project will apply the methodology towards the synthesis of chiral natural products, and will seek to develop a clear mechanistic picture allowing new chiral ligands to be identified by rational design.

Funding Notes

This is a self-funded project.
If you have the correct qualifications and access to your own funding, either from your home country or your own finances, your application to work with this supervisor will be considered.
The applicant should have, or expect to gain, at least an upper second class degree or equivalent overseas qualification in a relevant subject.
