About the Project

This project will look at the selective modification of compounds to deliver new/non-natural amino acids/peptides. The approach will use a new carboxylation process developed in our group.

The idea being that we can selectively carboxylate amino acids by activating CO2 using our novel electro synthesis technology. You will join a team of PhD and Post-Doctoral researchers working on similar themes.

See Chem. Commun. 2011, 47, 11888, Synlett 2014, 197, Eur. J. Org. Chem. 2015, 474 for the related technology.

All applications are made online, please select the school/department name under the programme name section and include the quote reference number.

Entry Requirements
A relevant Master's degree and / or experience in one or more of the following will be an advantage: Experience in electrochemistry or organic synthesis would be an advantage but not necessary as training will be provided.

Funding Notes

This is an open call for candidates who are sponsored or who have their own funding. If you do not have funding, you may still apply, however Institutional funding is not guaranteed. Outstanding candidates (UK/EU/International) without funding will be considered for funding opportunities which may become available in the School.

UK/EU Fee band: Research Band 2 Laboratory Based (£TBC) if start date is Oct 2020
International Fee band: Research Band 2 Laboratory Based (£22,350) if start date is Oct 2020
