About the Project

Physical Education continues to explore different pedagogical approaches to meet the needs of diverse participant populations. This interest has focused around the use of different pedagogical models, i.e. theoretically informed and locally developed and refined approaches to teaching. One aspiration in physical eduction is the adoption of a Models-based Practice (MbP) approach. Despite the plethora of research into models, Casey and Kirk (2021) recently argued that true MbP does not yet exist. This project aims to understand the enablers and constraints schools and teachers experience when adopting MbP. The purpose is to use practitioner focused research methods to examine the perceptions, usage and outcomes of MbP and how different Pedagogical Models are adopted into and impact practice.
