About the Project

Campylobacter jejuni is the leading cause of bacterial gastroenteritis worldwide and is commonly transmitted through ingestion of contaminated chicken meat. The mechanism by which this microaerophilic pathogen survives on chicken meat in the aerobic environment of the supermarket is poorly understood. This project focuses on investigating the factors involved in the regulation of biofilm formation and how the structure of this biofilm can change when it is formed on different substrates or under different conditions. For further details and applications see https://www.ucd.ie/sbbs/research/researchvacancies/phdscholarshipproject2/
