Project Description

This project moves away from common debate of design as art and vice versa or the differences between the two disciplines. It concerns their interface drawing on practitioners who have actively employed the ideology and methodology of both fields in their practice. What are the interchanges between art and design? What have been produced out of these interchanges? Who have pioneered the interface of the two fields? What are the characteristics of such an interface?

What are the emerging ideology and methodology of the new practice that is born out of the said interface? What can be proposed for the new practice? Proposals are welcome to investigate the interface between the broad field of art and design, the employed methodology for and the trajectories of the new immiscible field. Design here includes, but not exclusive to, products, graphics and/or fashion. Proposals should specify the field of design study. Practice- and written based proposal are welcome.

Please note eligibility requirement:

* Academic excellence of the proposed student i.e. normally an Honours Degree: 1st or 2:1 (or equivalent) or possession of a Masters degree, with merit (or equivalent study at postgraduate level). Applicants may also be accepted on the basis of relevant and substantial practitioner/professional experience.

* Appropriate IELTS score, if required (evidence required by 1 August).
