About the Project
Are you interested in helping to design the next generation of active molecules for applications in industry? Are you looking for a PhD position that will provide research and training opportunities in artificial intelligence and computational chemistry? Would you like to work in the UK but collaborate with a major international pharmaceutical partner? If the answers are “yes”, then we would like to hear from you!
We are recruiting for a four-year PhD project on “Artificial Intelligence algorithms to predict aggregation and gel phenomena in peptide synthesis and isolation”. The position is funded by the UKRI iCASE scheme and a major international pharmaceutical company. You will benefit from the excellent training and research opportunities at the University of Strathclyde, while having the chance to network and learn about pharmaceutical development by working in close collaboration with the industrial partner. This will include visiting the collaborator’s laboratories in the USA for short periods.
The studentship will be supervised by Prof. Tell Tuttle in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde. It will be based in the Strathclyde Computational and Theoretical Chemistry Hub (SCoTCH), a centre for excellence in computational molecular science. The centre occupies modern computational laboratories with access to high-performance computing facilities including graphic processing units (GPUs).

- Contact details of two reference persons that are able to provide letters of recommendation upon request.
