About the Project
The increasing demand for capacity has resulted in communication systems moving towards mmWave frequency bands. The fifth generation of communication standard also incorporate mmWave bands. Although mmWave bands have high bandwidth and available spectrum, high atmospheric attenuation results in requirements for high antenna gains. mmWave beam forming is an important requirement when mmWave bands are considered for wireless communication. Although lot of work has already been carried out for mmWave beam forming, beam management requires further work to make them practical in real scenarios including applications involving mobile users. This project will look into formulating a comprehensive beam management scheme.
Applicants with research interests in antenna arrays, wireless communication and beam forming are welcome to apply. Some past experience with array designs and beam forming techniques will be an added benefit (optional).
