Bioactive Peptide Nanostructures: The relation between bioactivity and molecular self-assembly into diverse nanostructures

About the Project

Research into bioactive peptides includes work on antimicrobial peptides, amyloid-related peptides with relevance to protein misfolding diseases such as Alzheimers, lipopeptides with applications in immune therapies and for wound healing and skincare. The relation between bioactivity and molecular self-assembly into diverse nanostructures is investigated. Physico-chemical methods used to examine self-assembly include electron microscopy, spectroscopic methods and x-ray diffraction. Bioactivity is probed using a variety of cell assays.
