Buildings, energy and professional ways of thinking

The design and delivery of net zero carbon buildings poses a major challenge to construction professionals.  The issues are technical, social and organizational.  Most research focuses on the former, but this obscures the very different ways of thinking amongst different professionals and the problems associated with the communication of design solutions across multiple teams, working on different phases of a project at different scales. The proposed PhD explores the organizational challenges to net zero carbon building.  As such it promises to contribute to knowledge of sustainable building design and delivery and to theoretical understandings of project based organization.
