About the Project

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) is seeking applicants for a four-year Ph.D. position in Mathematics, in the area of Partial Differential Equations and Calculus of Variations, starting February 2023. The School of Mathematical Sciences is a rapidly expanding department which fosters exchange, mobility and connections with overseas schools. Below there are links to past research activities of the PDEs Research Group Colloquium in collaboration with other institutes:

  1. Optimization for shapes and potentials (Prof. G. Buttazzo, Università di Pisa)
  2. The regularity theory of area minimizing currents in higher codimension (Prof. C. De Lellis, Institute for Advanced Study)
  3. Introduction to minimal surfaces (Prof. F. Morabito, Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology)

Successful applicants will be supervised by Professor Behrouz Emami Zadeh and Dr. Daniele Garrisi of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China towards the completion of a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics.

In the recent days, the Chinese government is gradually removing restrictions (as the compulsory quarantine). However, starting in online mode can be agreed with UNNC, depending on the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic on February 2023.

During the first three years, the scholarship will cover:

(1). Tuition fee (2). Monthly stipend (3). Medical insurance with designated providers.

Successful applicants are also eligible to apply for Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) and Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA).

The University of Nottingham fosters diversity into all the activities, and it is committed to make the environment a pleasant place to work and study regardless of age, nationality, disability, gender reassignment, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation.
