Project Description

Funded MRes Strength & Conditioning Internship – 2019/20 Season

Castleford Tigers are providing a fee funded Masters by Research (MRes) placement as part of a new and exciting relationship between Leeds Beckett University and Castleford Tigers Rugby League Club.

In this unique opportunity the successful candidates will support the Castleford Tigers Performance Analysis and Strength and Conditioning Teams under the guidance of the Head of Analysis and the Head of Strength and Conditioning.

The masters will aim to examine the following performance question during the 2019/2020 season:

Strength and Conditioning: Training and match demands of elite rugby league players

As part of the application process candidates are expected to develop a research proposal aligned to one of the above themes. The specific research questions will then be developed between the successful applicant, Castleford Tigers and the MRes supervisory team.

The analysis role will incorporate assisting with filming and coding of training sessions and matches across various squads under the supervision of the Head of Analysis.

The strength and conditioning role will incorporate assisting with gym-based delivery to the senior and reserve squad, pitch based warm ups and completing GPS analysis of senior and reserve player performance.

Contact time on the MRes and with the Castleford Tigers will be no more than 20 hours per week (this may include some work at weekends and during unsociable hours). Castleford Tigers Rugby League Club will contribute a fee bursary to cover full MRes fees.

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic students who will fully engage in the dynamic and vibrant research offered by Leeds Beckett University and Castleford Tigers Rugby League Club.

The MRes positions will be for the period from October 2019 to September 2020.

If you have any more questions about this role, please feel free to contact the Director of Studies Dr Stacey Emmonds;
