Catalytic asymmetric C–C and C–B bond forming methods

School of Chemistry

Applications accepted all year round Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)

About the Project

Fully funded PhD studentship, is available in the lab of Dr Allan Watson at the University of St Andrews. The start date will be end of September 2021.

The project will involve the development of new cross-coupling processes to make C-X bonds. The project is focused on development and understanding of catalytic reactions, with the aim of making compounds of value to drug discovery. The project will involve organic, organometallic, physical-organic, and inorganic chemistry.

You will join a multi-disciplinary research group that uses mechanism to understand and develop new catalytic reactions, and apply these reactions to make molecules that have applications in medicinal chemistry and agrochemistry.
