Climate change and the transition to a low-carbon economy are top of the political agenda. Green finance can address these challenges. This project will explore the impact of climate change on financial stability, and the role of financial markets and financial institutions in the climate crisis. For example, do climactic shocks undermine the stability of the banking industry? To what extent is climate change driven by financial markets allocating capital to firms in polluting industries? Can green investment foster low-carbon energy production and technologies? These issues are important for macroeconomic analysis and society more generally.
