About the Project

You will join the internationally recognised researchers in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.  The composite bond behaviour between concrete and the reinforcing material in reinforced concrete members is essential for the load-carrying and serviceability performance. This project will investigate the development of bond both in normal conditions and also post-fire, with a view to assessing the post-fire structural integrity. The focus is on non-traditional reinforcement materials and compare its behaviour to traditional reinforcement through mechanical and metallurgical testing and analysis, also looking at the sustainability and economic life-cycle factors.
