About This PhD Project

Project Description

A PhD position is available at the Centre for Visual Computing on the topic of human facial analysis using computational methods and techniques. In particular, this research project will focus on the development of efficient methods for face perception leading to enhanced face recognition as well face verification, facial emotion analysis and simulation of facial ageing.

Development of new methods and techniques for computer based face analysis require an understanding of image processing, machine learning and the ability to undertake computer programming. The project will build upon some of the cutting edge work in this area being undertaken at the Centre for Visual Computing at University of Bradford where much of the work has been well published and also reported in the international media (e.g. work on face recognition and facial ageing). This research project will have much impact upon the development of new face recognition tools for the law enforcement agencies, automated analysis of interviews as well as prediction of facial ageing for locating missing people. Research in this areas is very much in collaboration with Health, Psychology, Engineering and Media.
