Project Description

The primary aim of the proposed research will design and develop a multidisciplinary framework to aid communication, public engagement and informed decision making in tourism through the novel application of Computer Graphics and HCI technologies.

The PhD candidate will be required to investigate Computer Graphics techniques and technologies and Human Computer Interaction practice and bridge the gaps that exists across discipline boundaries. This project will work with data visualization, data capture (eg. Laser Scanning, photogrammetry & point clouds), and communication of the information through internet-based platforms. The successful candidate will work with the supervisory team on data analysis and modeling both from the perspective of data analytics (eg. To identify features, or to explore what people were looking at), and also from the perspective of the non-expert user (i.e. the tourist).

A successful candidate would have a focus on the development of mechanisms to support communication, with part of the research analysis focused on user-perception and usability both in computer science and architecture. The project therefore carries advances in programming, and holds potential for outputs and development within the social sciences.
