Project Description

This project is based in the Cardiff Catalysis Institute (CCI) and will explore new homogeneous catalysts in which multiple active sites work cooperatively to convert sustainable feedstocks into more valuable products. It will involve the synthesis and characterisation of new ligands and organometallic species, their testing for the conversion of feedstocks such as carbon dioxide and biomass-derived alcohols, and preliminary mechanistic studies.

Academic requirements

Candidates should hold or expect to gain a first class degree or a good 2.1 and/or an appropriate Master’s level qualification (or their equivalent).

Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent)

Start date - 1st October 2020 (but a 1st April or 1st July would be considered)

Funding Notes

This studentship is open to Home, EU or Overseas Candidates.

However, Overseas candidates should note that they will be required to cover the difference between Home and Overseas tuition fees each year.

This is a 3 year funded post with Home/EU tuition fees funded and a standard stipend.
