Corrosion Optimization of Additively Manufactured High-manganese (high-Mn) Steels

   School of Science and Engineering

  ,  Friday, February 28, 2025  Self-Funded PhD Students Only

About the Project

High-manganese (high-Mn) steels are limited in their application due to their low with moderate corrosion resistance, but their electrochemical properties can further be enhanced especially in harsh environmental conditions. This project aims to develop a unique high-manganese (high-Mn) steels fabricated via additive manufacturing process putting into considerations the necessary printing parameters and investigate their corrosion resistance performance in different environments to ascertain the best environment for industrial applications. The working hardening and strengthening mechanisms will thereafter be investigated.
