About the Project

The increasing interconnectivity between information systems, communications, and the electricity grid gives rise to numerous benefits, but it also amplifies the impact of potential threats, both intentional and unintentional. In fact, we are just starting to understand the extent of the cybersecurity vulnerabilities that this new reality generates. One of the main threats to which electricity grids are exposed is the data injection attack. Therein, a malicious attacker compromises sensing resources and tampers with the measurements obtained by the network operator, which induces a corrupted state estimation by the operator. In this project, the use of information theoretic and game theoretic tools in the analysis of this attack strategy is explored.

This is a self-funded research project.
We require applicants to have either an undergraduate honours degree (1st) or MSc (Merit or Distinction) in a relevant science or engineering subject from a reputable institution.
Prospective candidates for this project should have a strong background in Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or other related disciplines.
