About the Project

The focus of this project will be on the crumbling of the premises of the old order, the core tenets of strategic stability that have been considered as the backbone of strategic international order. Deterrence that we see as the backbone of international strategic stability becomes challenged once it is being used for objectives that are related to intra-state violence (protection), and the prevention of threats to masses rather than states (nuclear weapons). The project is interdisciplinary because this transition in the role of the state and the role of deterrence is not just something objective (especially as the premises of the calculations are changing from state-oriented into people-oriented), but also depend on the collective narratives that are region and culture specific.
