Huddersfield United Kingdom Epidemiology Health Informatics Nursing & Health Social Work

About the Project

A new opportunity is available for outstanding doctoral candidates to develop their careers as researchers within the School of Human and Health Sciences at the TEF Gold rated University of Huddersfield. The School has an ambitious programme of research that is making a real difference to people's lives.

About the Project

Maternal obesity is common in the UK. Maternity care for women with a raised BMI is often experienced as de-personalised and stigmatising. Despite increasing policy calls for partner-inclusive approaches in maternity, this has been under-researched in relation to maternal obesity. We welcome proposals exploring ways to engage and support couples during pregnancies affected by maternal obesity.

All postgraduate researchers in our School benefit from skilled supervision by experienced and enthusiastic researchers and a comprehensive programme of training in research methods and researcher development.

We are looking for candidates who have a passion for their discipline and a clear view of the potential impact of their research. Successful candidates will not only have the potential to produce an exceptional piece of work but will also be keen to play an active role in developing the research culture of our School, contributing to seminars and other research events.
