About the Project

Considering a career in neuroscience and dementia research? Did you recently complete your studies in Biological/Medical Sciences with an Honours and were thinking about a PhD? Want to acquire a Master of Research along the way? – The Dementia Research Centre (DRC) is offering a MRes/PhD-stipend to develop next-generation cell/animal models for dementia research. The DRC is internationally renowned for developing disease models to study dementia. Using and advancing the latest CRISPR genome editing technologies, this project will overcome the limitations of current disease models (that are based on the overexpression of human pathogenic proteins) in order to provide a better understanding of neurodegeneration and accelerate translation of novel therapies into clinical trials. The multidisciplinary research program of the Dementia Research Centre at Macquarie University provides ample opportunities to learn and apply cutting-edge technologies to decipher mechanism in brain function and diseases. Please follow the links for more information on the DRC and study opportunities in the DRC (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kj1qY0cNWF8).
