About the Project

Postgraduate research student position Available at IT Sligo, Ireland

A fully funded postgraduate research student position is available at the Institute of technology Sligo, Ireland. The project entitled ‘Development of Supercapacitor–Triboelectric Nanogenerators (SC-TENGs) for Wearable Electronics’. This project will be carried out in collaboration with Nanotechnology and Bio-Engineering Research Lab IT Sligo (Prof. Suresh C. Pillai) and WiSAR lab at Letterkenny IT (Dr. Jim Morrison).

The successful applicant will be developing new materials for Supercapacitor–Triboelectric Nanogenerators (SC-TENGs) for Wearable Electronics

Minimum first class or 2.1 degree in one of the disciplines include Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Electronics, Chemistry or in a related discipline in engineering or physical sciences will be required. Masters degree and Previous research experience in advanced materials will be an added advantage.

FUNDING SOURCE: CUA Bursary 2020 with a maintenance grant of €13,000 p.a. and up to €4,000 p.a. for expenses as approved. Tuition fees (currently €819 p.a.) will be paid by the Institute for all holders of student bursaries. Students are required to pay their registration fee. The registration fee for 2018-2019 is €3,000 p.a.

DURATION: Funding will be initially for a maximum of 2 years full time Master’s registration. This research has potential to transition into a PhD up to a maximum of 4 years.
