Dietary bioactives modulate vascular function: a mechanistic investigation.

Project Description

In the UK, over three million people currently suffer from cardiovascular diseases and healthy foods rich in protective dietary factors are known to help slow vascular ageing and improve the quality of life.
Dietary factors such as polyphenols can improve vascular function. Thus the molecular events involved are not fully understood and further mechanistic investigations are required.
As part of this studentship, we will elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which dietary factors modulate cardiovascular function in human endothelial cells.
The PhD student will acquire valuable knowledge and a diverse range of technical skills, while conducting this project in a stimulating and supportive environment at the University of Roehampton, ranked best modern University in London.

This is an unfunded PhD project, for candidates who are sponsored or who have their own funding.

Candidates are expected to have a good Masters degree (or equivalent non-UK qualification) in Biochemistry, Biology, Nutrition or related discipline.
