About This PhD Project

Project Description

Building on existing research at the University of Auckland in the Design and Development Research Group, this PhD project will explore how digital twins of engineering projects could be created and how they could support project coordination. This will be based on discrete event simulation considering project information flows, organisational structures, and the architecture of the design being created by the project. Approaches will be explored to connect the digital twin to real world projects, potentially including mining of project data (PLM, email) and workforce surveys. The aims of creating a digital twin of the engineering project include to manage progress, diagnose potential problems, and generate opportunities for process improvement.
