Digital experiences deliberately go beyond simply communicating information - they seek to strongly engage, involve, and emotionally affect the user using digital means. A huge array of interactions and technologies can render digital experiences for various human goals. These experiences may be practical, for pure enjoyment, or a mixture of both.
As such, digital experiences require the integration and application of techniques and tools in creative computing, AI and machine learning, digital games, collaborative technologies, HCI and UX, personalisation, metadata, and eXtended Reality (AR, VR and MR).
Hence, applications are invited from candidates that have an interest in exploring the value of creating and applying digital experiences within new, disruptive contexts. It is envisaged that the successful candidate would research, design, develop, and evaluate a digital experience within an appropriate context. Therefore, candidates should have good creative design and software development skills, as well as experience in appropriate research methods and experience with one or more of the techniques and tools mentioned above.

A PhD programme is expected to take 3 years full-time or 6 years part-time, with intakes starting in January, April or October.
The general University entrance requirement for registration for a research degree is normally a First or Upper Second Class Honours degree (1st or 2:1) or an international equivalent. A Masters degree is a welcome, but not required, qualification for entry.
