Project Description

This PhD is part of a wider EPSRC funded project to ’Street Zero’ to develop near zero energy public transport and aligns to WP3 on intelligent infrastructure.

As our buses become increasingly more advanced, there are opportunities to not only improve the design of the vehicle, but also how it integrates with infrastructure, moving towards the next generation of Smart Cities. Drive-by monitoring and inductive charging of infrastructure sensors will enable greater understanding of how our transport systems impact on the state of health of our infrastructure, and to understand how added value from our public transport system can be secured through vehicle-based monitoring protocols.

Funding Notes

The successful candidate will be funded through a DfE 3 year doctoral training partnership, including stipend and Home/EU fees. Candidates must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for 3 years (with no restrictions). EU residents may be eligible for a fees-only studentship.
