Dr A I Osofero, Dr M Menshykova  Applications accepted all year round  Self-Funded PhD Students Only

About the Project

This research will focus on the development of sustainable natural fibre reinforced concrete for dynamic applications. Experimental investigations focusing on mechanical characterization of OPBF and the structural behaviour of the resulting composite will be carried out. Behaviour of scaled structural element made from the developed composite will be examined through laboratory experiments and numerical modelling. Finally, this project will seek to develop design recommendations and guidance for designers and engineers to enable practical application of the research outcomes.

Candidates should have (or expect to achieve) a UK honours degree at 2.1 or above (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering.

Knowledge of:
FE Modelling
Engineering materials
Structural mechanics

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
