Dynamics of Quantum Many-Body Systems

   Department of Physics

Applications accepted all year round  Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)

About the Project

Applications are open for a PhD studentship in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics to work on the “Dynamics of Quantum Many-Body Systems” in the group of Dr Joe Bhaseen at King’s College London.

We are looking for candidates with a strong interest in condensed matter physics and quantum field theory techniques. The project will focus on the development of new theoretical approaches to quantum many-body systems in and out of equilibrium, with applications to condensed matter systems.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Theory and Simulation of Condensed Matter (TSCM) group at King’s College London

The research activities of the TSCM group span a wide range of areas including strongly correlated systems in and out of equilibrium, quantum field theory, ab-initio and diagrammatic techniques, quantum transport and quantum chemistry.

Start date: 1st October 2022

For enquiries please contact Dr Joe Bhaseen,

For full information on how to apply: https://apply.kcl.ac.uk

Candidates must apply via the King’s Apply online application system. Details are available at

Please select the Physics Research programme and identify Dr Joe Bhaseen as a potential supervisor in your application.

The Physics department at King’s College London supports Diversity and Equality and we invite all eligible candidates to apply.

The Department was awarded the Silver Swan medal and Juno Champion award from IOP:
