Early engagement processes in psychological treatments for depression

Project Description

There is evidence that psychological therapies are effective for the treatment of depression. However, not all patients benefit and many patients do not complete their full course of treatment, with the likelihood that their outcomes will be poorer than for those who have completed therapy. Early engagement in therapy may reduce the likelihood of dropping-out of treatment and contribute to the overall effectiveness of therapy. This project will involve developing engagement markers and therapist activities in early sessions of treatments for depression and examining the impact of the quality of engagement on treatment outcomes.
