Project Description

The goal of this project is to work on algorithmic problems that arise in single cell RNA-seq processing using the kallisto and BUS framework (https://www.kallistobus.tools/)

The PhD student will work on developing algorithms and implementing them to work with real datasets. There are several problems to work on, e.g. creating robust algorithms for error correction of barcodes, algorithms for clustering cells, and compression schemes for BUS files.

We encourage students from different backgrounds to apply. Applicants should hold a MSc degree in Computer science, Bioinformatics or related fields with experience in programming and strong background in algorithms and data structures. Prior experience working with bioinformatics data is a plus but is not required.

- A detailed CV for the student - including a certified university academic record and a bibliography.
- The student’s placing in the distribution of grades at the relevant university faculty, at both the
undergraduate and Master’s levels.
- Two letters of recommendation (writers of letters of recommendation can send the letters directly)


Funding Notes

Funding is available for 3 years, the scholarship is 425.000 ISK per month.
