About the Project

This project should present an efficient low-complexity localization system for tracking objects. A geometrically small omnidirectional dual-band array within a very small height that can be fit at the top of the car surface. An array of six or more sensors will be considered to operate at dual spectrum bandwidths. The distance between elements should be made small as possible, and decoupling method should be applied to remote coupling. The advantage of proposing a dual-band array sensor in this work is to provide a strong judgement on the Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm (AOA) over two spectrum bandwidths having different propagation characteristics. Thus, the AOA algorithm can obtain the directions of received signals based on two different frequencies simultaneously, or it can switch between them depending on which link provides a stronger connection in the tracking area.

Funding Notes

This is a self-funded PhD project; applicants will be expected to pay their own fees or have a suitable source of third-party funding. A bench fee may also apply to this project, in addition to the tuition fees. UK students may be able to apply for a Doctoral Loan from Student Finance for financial support.
