We are looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate who is interested in electrochemical sensors.
The project goals are (1) to prototype sensor electrodes based on aptamers, (2) electrochemical testing of the protein-protein interaction between the electrode and protein analyte (biorecognition), and (3) validation of a limit of detection and sensor parameters using various electro-analytical techniques (impedance spectroscopy, impedance phase interrogation, voltammetry, electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance).
A core part of this project is to design and engineer a sensor platform with a dual signal amplification (magnetic-electrochemical), and to modify the sensor platform with suitable nanomaterials to improve a specific binding between the bio-recognition element (receptor) and the target analyte (biomarker).
Experimental results will be correlated with simulation of the sensor prototype using COMSOL Multiphysics software.
Applicants with strong background in electrochemistry or biosensor research are welcome!
