Embedding STEM in Learning and Teaching

Project Description

In response to the identified shortage of future STEM professionals, particularly in regional locations, the overall aim of this research is to improve the STEM capacity of regional teachers, thereby potentially influencing the STEM skills of future generations. Specifically, this project aims to:

- investigate the impact of an intensive PD intervention undertaken with primary teachers on their self-efficacy and attitudes to 21st century skills;

- build on the research findings to design and develop strategies for effectively embedding STEM education into the classroom;

- use the evidence gained from the research to inform curriculum development within STEM specialisations of initial teacher education;

- identify how the intervention has impacted on students’ experiences.
