Prof A J Mulholland  Applications accepted all year round  Competition Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)

About the Project

A PhD studentships is available to begin in 2022 as part of PREDACTED (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101021207), a European Research Council project based at University of Bristol. This project focuses on enzymes involved in the ‘silent pandemic’ of antimicrobial resistance. The project will investigate enzymes involved in breaking down antibiotics, including current ‘last resort’ antibiotics. It will involve a combination of experiments and computational molecular simulation methods to model enzymes to understand and combat emerging antibiotic resistance. This project will provide interdisciplinary training through experimental work and close collaboration with biochemical experiments. Applicants should hold a suitable good first degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline by the start of the project. Contact Prof. Adrian Mulholland (School of Chemistry, [Email Address Removed] ) or Prof. Jim Spencer (School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine [Email Address Removed] ) for further details. The projects are open to UK applicants; applicants from other countries may also be considered.
