About the Project
This PhD project will build upon the design, synthesis and evaluation/optimisation of a new class of corrosion inhibitors developed by Schlumberger Cambridge Research Centre. The newly developed chemistries are designed to protect carbon steel in demanding, high temperature aqueous CO2-containing environments, analogous to those encountered in geothermal and oil and gas systems.
The project will explore new methodologies for the design and evaluation of inhibitory molecules using autoclave systems, with the intention of improving the understanding of the corrosion mechanisms of such chemistries.
A highly competitive EPSRC Studentship Award offering Academic Fee at Home/EU Fee rate, plus Maintenance of £15,285 per year for 3.5 years. The project is co-funded and co-supervised by Schlumberger Cambridge Research. Note to EU Candidates: To be eligible for the full award of fees and maintenance, you must be have residency in the UK for 3 or more years. If you do not have 3 years residency in the UK, you may be eligible for a Fee Only award. Please note that International applicants are not eligible to apply for this funding.
