About This PhD Project

Project Description

Rapid but often poorly controlled urbanisation and the increase in construction delivered by informal workers with low levels of education and vocational training in locations highly vulnerable to impacts of natural hazards is common in Low and Middle-Income Countries around the world. This project aims to understand training needs and appropriate methods of delivering these that would facilitate an inclusive ‘good practice’ construction process among informal construction workers, in order to ensure a more resilient built environment.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have, or expect to achieve, at least a 2:1 Honours degree (or equivalent) in built environment related discipline, political studies, geography.

A relevant Master's degree and / or experience in one or more of the following will be an advantage: disaster risk/emergency management, construction management, education.
