Applications are invited for a PhD (via MPhil) studentship into explore the relationship that Black communities and individuals living in and around the Lancashire region have with higher education and with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in particular. The studentship is tenable for up to 3 years full time (subject to satisfactory progress). Both Home/EU and International applicants may apply and studentship fees of £4440 will be covered and an annual stipend of £15,235 per year (up to 3 years).
It is expected that the successful applicant will commence on 1st February 2021.
Exploring Relationship of Black Communities with and to HE
This project seeks to explore the relationship that Black communities and individuals living in and around the Lancashire region have with higher education and with University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in particular. The project will seek to review and explore the historical and current relationships that Black communities have with higher education and UCLan. The project will seek to identify the factors that influence or have influenced these relationships and the level of connectedness that exists.
The research may investigate this relationship through one or more of the following lenses; art, literature, cultural or education studies. The project will develop a contextual framework for strengthening the relationship between Black communities of Lancashire and surrounding regions and UCLan.
