Competition Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)
Previous literature has focused in analyzing the causes of the potential premium associated with the reallocation activities of workers and firms. The main arguments associated with the better performance after reallocation can be due to: the dynamic spatial sorting of initially more productive workers or firms, or the static advantages associated with the characteristics of locations and learning by doing. The research project focuses on analyzing firm reallocation patterns in the UK with special interest in understanding causes of firm reallocation by analyzing the role that firm internal factors such as technology adaptation and automation decision, external factors and their interactions may have in explaining firm performance (pre- and after- firm reallocation).
