Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)
About the Project
Reactive flow in porous media (experimental studies and/or numerical simulations) of manufactures porous replicas.
Porous materials and structures are encountered in, and essential to, many aspects of daily life and the environment, ranging from groundwater storage and filtration to the efficient recovery of oil and gas. However, the processes which govern the flow and chemical / physical processes through such porous systems are poorly understood, yet this knowledge is essential to a safe utilisation of these resources.
This project aims to develop, build and utilise artificial porous materials to carry out in flow and reactivity studies.
Requirements
All applicants must have or expect to have a 1st class MChem, MPhys, MSci, MEng or equivalent degree by Autumn 2020. Selection will be based on academic excellence and research potential, and all short-listed applicants will be interviewed (in person or by Skype). Our scholarships are usually only open to UK/EU applicants who meet residency requirements set out by EPSRC, however some scholarships are available for exceptional overseas candidates.
Closing Date
All applications must be received by 28th February 2020. All successful candidates should usually expect to start in September/October 2020.
