Formulation and evaluation of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells exosomes and antioxidants, incorporated in nanoliposomes using microfluidics, for the treatment of solid tumours

About the Project

This project uses the Cord blood Stem Cells from healthy control and the white blood cells of blood cancer patients to investigate the efficacy and genotoxicity of different compounds in them by using various genetic endpoints.

Cord blood stem cells and their exosomes will be formulated in nanoliposomes using microfluidic reactor technology. Various process parameters will be investigated to produce a stable nano-delivery system to enhance cells uptake.

You will join our Cell and Molecular Biology Research Group, which studies molecular mechanisms important for cellular function in health and disease with a special emphasis on chronic diseases such as obesity, type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and infertility.

Funding Notes

This is a self-funded project; applicants will be expected to pay their own fees or have access to suitable third-party funding, such as the Doctoral Loan from Student Finance. In addition to the university's standard tuition fees, bench fees also apply to this project.
